>QUESTION: Does anyone know how I can get a similar etheric, spheric sound like FRIPP, when he is doing his soundscapes. Sure he uses a lot of processors and devices. But maybe someone knows how to get it in a quite cheap way. I am really interested in this at the moment. Doesn´t use rhythms and loops that much... < Get thee some Eventides. http://www.musicgearreview.com/article-display/2154.html If you don't have a zillion dollars to spend, then I'd suggest one of the Roland GR synths, some kind of delay/loop pedal (Boss DD20 is a good choice) and an multi-effect with some nice reverbs. Someone suggested the VH-1 and that's a good choice. The Behringer Virtualizer is a cheap solution. The Vortex is a great choice too. Fripp also uses an Fernandes Sustainer system. First I pick a nice shooshy synth patch, then I either use the delay set to a long delay with a very very long decay time, or a sample and hold looper (like a RC20XL). Run that into a reverb (I use a Roland RSP550) unit. And off I go...
