It was interesting to see in Rick's statement that while he got far more publicity than with regular products, attendance was the same - which from a marketing guy's viewpoint is a very bad thing.
Why does this happen?
Because a certain number of people go out on events. The fact that more people get to hear about the event through the increased media coverage doesn't change the population's general habits of going out on events or staying home (for other private events, maybe?)
To me, with a background in sociological research and marketing theory, Rick's rapport says that his event, in its recent form and presentation, is already optimizing the public attendance quota.
