Re: Who uses "looping" in their promo material?

i've found that the word "looping" confuses people and then i have to
spend all my time explaining what looping is, and THEN explain my music.
so i only use it in when i think it will be understood and of
interest - which means when the audience is more technical and, er,
geeky.

but in general, when i'm trying to describe what i'm doing, i'm more
likely to use the words "sampling" and "layering", which seem clearer.

also, as i just stated, i only use these terms to describe the HOW.

i think it is better to describe yourself as a WHAT. some newspaper
called me an "avant cellist" and that has stuck because other media
people love to latch onto it (i think thats how you can tell if a tag
is working!). it is a problematic phrase but it's been working for
me. so i call myself an "avant-cellist and composer" which is so
vague it leaves me free to do all kind of things, whereas if i was a
"looping cellist", i could only loop!
