IIRC, Kris Hartung did exactly this over on Google Groups, when this 
same conversation came up a few months back (or perhaps it was the 
time before that).  You can use it like a forum-style webboard as 
easily as any proper forum.

It's not the technology, IMNSHO.  It's getting people to use it.  I 
think the forum is still open over there; you just need to go make 
use of it.
