This will, of course, revert to a hardware vs. software question. I
don't know of any loopers, hardware or software, in and of themselves
that will really give you what you're looking for. Then again, I'm not
terribly familiar with most loopers. In the software world, Mobius
does have pitch and rate adjustment features. However, I haven't had
much success with these when playing a rhythmic bass line. Still some
bugs to work out there, I think. Krispen has pointed out a VST called
Edge (if I'm remembering correctly) that he uses in conjunction with
Mobius to produce some great bass sounds from his guitars. I'm sure he
can give you more details if you're interested.
