Interesting. That's close to one of the things I've fought with a bit on
the LP1. I've felt like it's unpredictable as to whether it will come out
of Replace + mode into Overdub or just Play. Actually, in my experiments
this morning, it seems to be very predictable: It ends up in Play.
I have buttons for Rec/Dub and Replace+. I'm going to report results here
based on trusting that the lights are giving me the right feedback. In all
cases, I'm starting just in Play mode.
[ Replace+ ] => green light blinks, display says REPL+ => [
Replace+ ] => green light steady, display says REPL+
-- This is more or less as expected
[ Replace+ ] => green light blinks, display says REPL+ => [
Rec/Dub ] => back to playing (green light steady, timer counting)
[ Rec/Dub ] => overdubbing (green light blinks, timer counts) => [
Replace+ ] => green light steady, display says REPL+
This is where my EDP modes thinking starts to come in because what I want
is to essentially have Play, Overdub, and Replace+ as modes that I could
switch between. If already in the mode, they would switch to a secondary
mode (e.g., Play goes to Stop), but if not in the mode they would switch
to the mode rather than just toggling state.
But I see how for when using Replace in conjunction with the track speed
option it becomes rather interesting to use Rec/Dub as an alternative exit
since it doesn't then toggle the track speed back.
