OT-late post-pu feedback

late reply to the feedbacking pu....
there was a review of GE Smiths new signature telecaster (i can't remember if it was in guitar player or vintage guitar) and he talked about how his new tele, modeled after some vintage thing (52 or 53)-but for the bridge pu he has it mounted to the body, said it was something roy buchanan did in 60's, supposed to cut back on feedback (pu not hanging from springs vibrating). supposedly one thing it does is cut down on the twang of the tele sound, but helps w/ feedback.
the funny thing is : if roy buchanan did this to his teles, i have a few of his albums, and boy there's a lot of twang to his sound. oh well.
