[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Re: The trend these days for the EDP??
Laptop all the way. Im using Ableton/SooperLooper on a Mac 2.4 PBP. It took some time and energy to work out the bugs and get a usable and stable template, but it's so worth it.
Some advantages:
Tunes can have any number of effects, many that dont exist in the hardware world, and all be tempo synced perfectly and in stereo with the ability to go to surround as well.
Super small rig: Instrument, Interface, Laptop, PA Speakers, Midi Pedalboard. Basically 3 cords, 4 if you count the midi cable.
I save eq settings for various clubs and bars I play. I just drag the EQ preset over and they are perfect every time I go back.
I can use Itunes in between sets, or play Halo, or pay bills.
So many more things are at your fingertips, like recorded clips of percussion, pads or vocals.
You can record your performances easily.
It has opened up so many possibilities, I sometimes get overwhelmed.
