Hi Leon,
I've tried several times, in te past, to record my upright piano, but i 
didnt' ever got a good sound.
I thinks ot's very difficult, because you need not only very good mics, 
but 
a good ambience too.
While amplifing a guitar is simple, acoustic piano has a lot of 
frequencies 
and harmonics that
interferes with walls and other materials that are in the same room.
That's why i have programmed a piano sound on my synth: no problem with 
mics 
and with the ambience
just a piano sound.
So, if you are using a laptop, you can play some of the beautiful piano 
sound that softwares offer today
like the "Giga Piano".
