rick, that's a cut-out-&-keep post. 
everything you suggest is useful & potentially very valuable for the
beginner or the seasoned programmer. I don't think I've seen a better or
more concise collection of tips on drum-programming, & I've read
interviews & clinic-transcriptions by warren cann, stewart copeland &
many others.
