RE: Midi looping: Yamaha launches the tenori-on in UK today

Seems like a cool tool. My first reaction was, "oh, this would be so easy
to
do in sw", but it's so easy for me to decide on a sw project that will take
3 years to complete instead of spending a couple of hundred bucks...

I mean, it looks like someone took a typical rhythm grid thingie that we've
seen dozens of times in sw and said, "y'know what? If you made this
self-contained in a box with sounds, it'd be a cool toy", and then refined
the concept considerably. It looks like they threw in a lot of fun stuff.
Plus, something you don't see in sw because the hw generally isn't there
for
it - a multitouch interface.

If the tap-tempo and external sync facilities are excellent, this might be
a
fun little self-contained gizmo to bring to jams. It also seems like it'd
be
great for churning out dance music forever (as if I know dance music....)
