For small mixers, samplers, tabletop effects units I use one of those
OnStage music stands--the one with the wide tripod base.  They're
about $40.  For larger surface area and more stable platform I'd go
with a double brace keyboard stand with either a keyboard/guitar case
on top or piece of plywood cut to an appropriate size.
