Uploading Files
Before you upload a file, please make
sure of the following:
- You have the right to freely distribute
the file
- You have browsed into the correct library
directory for the file. Please do not upload files into the root of the library -
they will be deleted.
- You have checked the file size to ensure
that it is within the file size limit. Files larger than the file size limit may
either be truncated, or may not upload at all. The current file size limit is
displayed in the upload box
There are two ways to upload a
file to the library:
Upload From Your Computer
To upload a file from your local
computer, use the "Upload File" dialog box:

Click the "Browse" button to
browse your local drives, and choose the file to be uploaded.
If you are uploading an audio file, please use the prompts in the File Description box to
accurately describe the file. This will help users find your file easily. If
you include your URL, please leave the "http://" prompt before the web
address. This ensures that your URL will be converted to an HTML link in the file
description, making it easier for users to hit your website.
Finally, include comments as appropriate. The entire file description can use 2000
characters, which should be enough for most LD list members! More detailed
descriptions and discussions of the file content should be handled within the Looper's
Delight mailing list - that's what we're all about anyway!
Click the "Upload File" button
on the right to begin the upload. Due to limitations of browser technologies, you
will not see a "status bar" during the upload. Please be patient and allow
the file to upload. You will be returned to the file listing when the upload is
complete, which should contain your new file.
Upload From The Web
To upload a file from a web location,
user the "Upload By HTTP Address" dialog box:
Enter the complete http address of the
file you want to upload. Again, please ensure that you have the right to freely
distribute anything you upload to the library. Enter the filename for the file you
are uploading. This is required information - the system will not pickup the
filename from the http address. Include comments, with the same guidelines mentioned
above.Click the "Upload File" button on the right to begin the upload.
Uploading by http address is typically much faster than a local upload, because it uses
the high-speed lines that connect web servers on the internet. When the upload is
complete, you will be returned to the file listing, which should contain your new file.
Downloading
Files
Each file listed in the library has a
number of actions available:
The red "X" and the Modify
icons are only visible if this is a file that you uploaded. Clicking the red
"X" will delete the file. Clicking the Modify icon will allow you to
modify the file description. Clicking the Email icon will cause the file to be emailed to
your validated email address.Clicking the Download icon will allow you to download the
file directly to your local computer. |
