Re: Holiday Looping Vol. 3
Oops - just realized you (chaz) were saying Jim's bass sounded like cello. Chiyaah - I'd only listened previously, not watched the video...I definitely thought those high harmonics were on a different instrument! (and maybe the harmony line too)...Fantastic work.

Thanks, all!
Per - it's a CR series cello from NS Design. Is that what you meant? I haven't actually gotten to play on an NXT before because they don't offer a 6 string model, which I was dead set on purchasing :) But it's nice to know you have an NS instrument as well!
Which kind of answers your question, Chaz...The tuning from low to high for my electric cello is F-C-G-D-A-E, and the action is such that it is a lot more natural to play in the high register of the instrument than on a traditional acoustic cello. And that's awesome for looping because you essentially have 6 octaves at your fingertips. The only problem is that it sounds kind of nasally in the mid-range, but I can often get around that with some reverb!

That was amazing. So inspiring I may practice my upright bass.
To bow such a nice high register how high is your action? Sounded very cello-like.
