Woops... I forgot about this tip, although it's not Mac specific. If
want to put some time into building environments in Max/MSP there is,
since one week ago, a very good time/speed conversion algorithm
available, the Elastique. Elastique can be used as an object in Max.
With Elastique you should be able to create for example the
Electrixpro Repeater functionality on a laptop. Elastique is used in
many applications already, among them Ableton Live's Complex Time
Stretch Algorithm. Here's a good article:
