Any info out about Y2K8 yet? ...and some gig spam :)
Hello to my looper friends!
Has been a long winter... I had to send my theremin to Moog Music for
service and I finally got it back a few days ago. So, I'm behind on
my cd project and a few other things I want to do.
I'm happy to report that I've been chosen to perform on one of the
evening concerts for the Ethermusic festival in Asheville, NC.
Ethermusic is the premiere theremin event in the world. I will play a
solo set on Thursday, April 24th and about half of my set includes
live looping works.

One of the highlights of 2007 was the Y2K7 Live Looping festival. I
really want to participate in 2008 -- do we have any word on a 2008
festival yet? I heard rumors that it will be in Pittsburgh, PA... if
this is true I can drive and bring my surround sound system (five
SRM450s and two SWA1501's).
Incidentally, I hope to perform my set in Asheville in surround sound
-- I'm still working out details with the folks in Asheville.
I really really wanted to participate in the Boise EMF -- however I'm
still working out logistics for improvisation with the theremin.
The theremin is so sensitive to pitch that to operate foot pedals and
other equipment is difficult while performing. Thus far, I have used
a laptop to manage all of the loop control functions and this approach
has forced me into written-out compositions. I have experimented with
touch pads and pedals but don't yet feel like I've worked out all the
"kinks" well enough to do improvised performances. Stay tuned! ;)
I enjoy reading the posts on the LD list. Your comments and ideas
provide information and inspiration and I appreciate it.
Best wishes to one and all! And please drop in if you are in the
Asheville area on April 24th.
Sincerely,
Kevin
