I'm not subscribed to the Analogue Heaven mailing list, but while I was 
there it definitely was a recurring subject (analog synths have lots of 
old pots and sliders).

The bottom line was : the only way to *really* clean a pot is to 
disassemble it and to clean everything, and then to reassemble the 
potentiometer.
Everything else only adds physical matter to the equation, and is thus 
only a temporary solution. Even if it seems to be a good solution in 
the short term, in the mid-long term it is not...
