If we're peaking Mac now, Apples' AU-Lab is also free. It's on the  
Tiger DVD, under "Developer/Applications". A Scalable mixer with  
busses and effect sends. Can host AU plug-ins, or VST if you use an  
adapter (FXpansion is the best).
