what i do is start with the shortest loop time, electrix MO-FX.....i dont know the length of time you get with the delay but its not much.....i often use the three 5 sec loops you get with the zoom 2100 to input sounds into the MO-FX.....i then send that loop into the rang and (in EDP talk i would assume "multiply" it, how i drool for this capability) and then i have a long loop over which whatever i put into the MO will be in sync with the rang and itself.....if it all starts to get out of hand just feedback down on either the MO or the rang, get rid of stuff and still be in sync because the MO set the time.....i've been wondering, with all the shows going on in EUROPE, how did you all sync up? or was it one big BROTHER SYNC ORGY?.....i havent set up my kit since my last gig (the art event), im doing this to force myself to refinish the studio, clean/paint/carpet.....IM GOING NUTS, i normally loop every day sometimes for hours on end and here i've gone close to 2 weeks, its worse than quitting cigaretts.....seriously!.....:).....michael

dylan.....i love the loops i can get off of the mofx, in fact for two weeks i forced myself to use just the mofx as my only looper.....i found that lots could be done with it, tweakin the "speed" and "feedback" and just the overall loopiness of it.....in my setup i have not only the mofx but also a 5 sec. looper in my alesis Q2, as well as the 3 five sec. loopers in the zoom 2100 plus my "rang".....my casio cz 5000 has an 8 trac sequencer on board which i think of also as a looper.....my buddy nick has come over several times with his miced classical guitar and plugged into my setup and i looped the both of us, more fun than you can shake a whale at.....i never felt the need to sync up my loopers with that there midi stuff.....there was some talk about PITCHSHIFT the last couple of daze.....I LOVE PITCHSHIFT.....the Q2 can do pitchshift but not to well (to some ears) mine excluded, i like that chipmonk sound!.....the digi "space station", alesis: ineko/bitrman/air-fx, zoom 2100 all will do pitchshift in their own funky ways.....i do not have the scootola for those monster "intlligent" wonderful sounding boxes that are out there.....but i have always said, one can not have enuf loopers and now i'll add pitchshifters tambien.....signal path, my, what a never-ending question that is!.....i know that my system can do much more than i at present can do with it but that's why i practice, no?.....michael

ola kiddies.....yesterday i spend the entire day resetting up my humble studio and i tried something different.....my 3 footpedals were always arranged left to right: boomerang-digi xp 300-zoom 2100.....that's the way it's always been.....well they are now reversed: zoom-digi-rang.....when i tried to play last evening it was very nicely weird having to think for a second where the rang was, it seemed that that pause made me more aware of what i was actually doing.....a basic case of let's break a habit and see what happens.....no doubt a simple thing but you might want to try it.....michael

I'd recommend the Zoom 2100 in a flash, except for the number of buttons,

tom.....that's the bummer, you can't do this on the fly (re: rang pitch shift) and only the upgraded rang + allows for the several different shifts, the original rang just gave you the octave option.....to do this: hold the stack (speed) button down till the red lite blinks then step on the play (stop) button to change thru pitch options.....keep in mind that you can go down or up in pitch depending what setting you are in when you record i.e if you record a loop in the regular setting and stop, then hit the stack button, you go down an octave, if you record with the rang in the lower octave setting then switch over to regular you will go up an octave.....the way i usually switch pitches is i have other things playing, a loop on the mo-fx, some little loops on the zoom 2100 and then you can play like a mad man to cover up the silence of the switch of the rangs pitch.....mic

these are just "some" ideas that i have and i use a really simple kit (boomerang +).....mo-fx, alesis Q2 and my trusty zoom 2100 all loop to some degree but there are no midi shananagins going on in my loop soup.....thanx andy for this thread, it is sooooo ON TOPIC.....you are such a good good lad!.....i bet there are many more ideas around this concept, let's hear them!.....i think that one of the main reasons i like loops (repetition) is the boredom that comes with playing over them (after a period of time) and this boredom forces me to get out of my (boreing) box and come up with new material.....all loopers are great learning machines and fantastic mirrors of what we sound like.....:)m

wow!.....what a fun gig with daryl shawn last nite.....PILL 1 .....PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL LIVE LOOPING 1.....not a midi to be seen!.....it was great fun and a wonderful learning experience to watch, listen and react to what daryl was doing with his "CASSETTE PLAYERS".....fantastic!.....the audient (TM) was converted to the wild and wacky life of LIVE LOOPING.....daryl spent the nite and we talked to the wee small hours about all you karzy LD people and how you have changed our lives for the "better".....good clean fun!.....i used my BIG ROOM KIT and only had one tiny gremlin, for some reason, set up was painless and everything worked right off the bat the only "thing" to missbehave was the controller pedal for the zoom 2100.....daryl helped shlepp the kit to my third floor "stuido" this morn and rather than wait for several months to set it all up again i went at it like a mad man!.....90 degrees, sweat pouring off of me....."WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS GO TOO?????"......yikes!!!!!.....i'm too old for this!.....but, presto bongo i hit the BIG ON BUTTON and everything works, at least in accordence with this weeks set-up.....joy oh joy!.....it's a shame that 99.9% of our audience went to see the "BATDUDE" movie last nite....:)......but it was an inspirational gas none the less.....it's great too see lots of good loop activity going on, krispen converting the masses, the walker bros and all the euro-loop-kindern looping out for the past few months, shows galore being mentioned on LD. every day.....you can't turn your head without smackin' into a loop.....this is good!.....michael

yes!.....touring rig:.....guitar > ineko > boomerang > ineko > fender champ or p.a., maybe another little alesis box or 2.....BIG ROOM RIG:.....guitar (buckers) >zoom 2100 > digi. space station > bitrman 1 > mackie 1202.....piezo (the guitar has 2 outs) > bitrman 2 > 1202.....1 mic for glockenspiel, 1 mic for vocals, bamboo flutes etc > 1202.....casio cz-5000 > alesis FAZE > 1202.....send 1 on 1202 > eletrix: mo fx > filter factory > warp factory > ineko 1 > boomerang > ineko 2 >1202.....send 2: vortex (thank you stanno!) > alesis Q2.....then all out to srm 450s (2).....it's taken awhile to arrive at this set-up and i am quite pleased with it but if you see anyway to improve on the signal paths please let me know!.....i spend an inordanent amount of time "thinking" about this.....of course the downside of the BRR is weight, the powerstrips, cables and alesis boxes alone weigh a lot and try finding a car that allows you to fit in the weird shaped gator rack, no way in the trunk and it's a battle to get it in the front seat.....now i know many folk will say "i just take an instrument and a computer".....i hate you!.....:).....perhaps that day will come for this old luditte and then i will play out more if i can find more lovers of boops and beeps.....m

funny you should put it that way rikeeeee.....thinking not only of this thread but also the one "rude" raul posted.....:).....starting with the "learning" thread: just yesterday i was thinking that i want nothing on my plate, deadlines freak me out, knowing that i have to be somewhere next wednesday makes me nervous, i can't sleep, i get weird and anxious.....so.....when i try to be creative, i just sit down and hit the BIG BUTTON, up comes all the blinky lites and it's off to the races......for the longest while, with the aid of THE BITRMAN and my other boxes, i have become addicted to listening to the "voices" arising from a signal being sent into filters etc. throw in some looping and i'm listening ffor the VOICE OF GOD, always hoping i don't hear "turn that shit off!"......now for the BITRMAN: a great box!.....right now, i use 2 pre-loop, my guitar has 2 outs (buckers/piezo), the bucker out goes to zoom 2100> digi (XP300) space station>bitrman>mixer.....the piezo out goes into bitrman>mixer.....then it's off to krazy electrix land then pre and post rang ineko goofiness.....but the biterman: i like how they pre-amp the incoming signal so it's one more volume control to help fine tune a "sound".....the "dual phasor" knob is sweet, adds a good deal of STEREO spread that you can control the speed of, with 2 you can play these back and forth against each other.....slower speeds it sounds flangy, higher speeds lead to more extreme sounds.....the last button "the bitrman" button gets you onto the krazy train: comb/decimator/bit reduction/FM/ring mod/freq shift.....michael, there is a small universe here that can be used, but "hands only", none of that sissy midi vodoo.....:).....tons of control and once again using two in conjuncture with the INEKOS, both pre and post loop, i have just been inputting a few notes then its off to knob city for some twist and shout.....bottom line: if i were to see an INEKO or a BITRMAN for sale or trade i would go for it, what would i pay? i hope i don't have to find out!.....if i recall correctly, mr. davignon is a bitman, alesis user.....there are many of us and i have never heard of any bitrman shortcomings.....in fact, mine is calling me now!.....:)m
