Re: El Capitan

Gosh, I miss Opcode.  The simple things I used to do then that still can't be done in Ableton - will never be able to be done in Ableton.

As a professional software engineer, I see very little advantage in that from the point of view of the user.  It's more work for nothing of tangible value.

If you don't believe that - suppose you were running 10.8.  Which killer feature in 10.9, 10.10 or 10.11 would you suggest to convince me to upgrade?

If the answer is, "I can't actually remember one killer feature from any of those upgrades, and each time my system ran a little slower," then you get a prize, and that prize is "Not having to do a bunch of work after a useless upgrade."  :-D

I DO MISS OPCODE!  Studio Vision.
Dave Oppenheim now works for Avid.  I guess the new Pro Tools is somewhat like Studio Vision, but I really miss the simple interface, the ease of making different length loops etc.

i can relate to this, Richard.
No reason to follow any and all updates, just because someone tries to sell you your already working configuration again.
This is definately not stubborn, but clever and cool.
And i miss the opcode plate reverb ;) just had a good character, but well, OS9 is really over now, though it helps, if you get a EMU IV sampler (today almost for free) and just want to transfer some sample banks via a serial connector. Ha!
