RE: Repetition blah blah..

I wish my music was more repetitious. I usually loop percussion and some guitar background, maybe some bass then play on top.

I frequently get annoyed with myself when I might hit on something that sounds really good to my ears but then habit makes me evolve off and play away from it rather than keeping the what-I-feel is a good riff/sequence - I.e. Repetition.

Of course,  I may not be aware always of the outcome and may only   become aware after listening to what I recorded - which I try to do almost every time I play.

Subject: Repetition blah blah..

Hi to all.

Can I chime in with absolutely essential rants ?
I love these statements, because you can also exactly say the total contrary…

Like 'music, or any sound, is in fact defined by the fact it never exactly repeats itself, even on a micro level'.
Seee ?

I so love this ! ! ! ! !

Kris,
I took away from the article that even if one defines music in the loosest of terms, any sound, musical or not, is already some sort of repetition if only on the micro level.

Which then leads us to the question, what is sufficient or necessary to define music? ;-)
