Thanks, I'll do that.

To be clear, there are two components to the noise. One is a low-level hiss. The whine is something that I personally can't hear, having at least the customary amount of HF hearing loss that goes with being 59 years old. My son, however, can clearly hear the whine.
 
if you don't need the special features of the EDP then I wouldn't recommend
moving over to it.
