Re: Request for advice on upgrade from Boss RC-20 particularly related to collaboration format/method

Well, the RC series has a pretty good sound quality (speaking mainly of the audio input, preamp and co), definitely enough for collaborative work. We've been doing online experiments in collaborative looping for years now, using almost everything that came out (ranging from an old Apple II to the Lexicon JamMan, including the Electrix Repeater or the Boomerang), but retreated to the Boss RC series when we started our daily online collaborative experiment ( http://www.bootymachine.net - mainly the RC-50). Even thought many things are flawed in their ergonomy, the sound is good, and the machinery solid as a rock. Connectivity is definitely a flaw, but as on all those non smartphone based solutions, even though USB let's you at least save and share your work.

Also, as part of the Loopr.net dev team, I would recommend Loopr too, but it's still in Apple review territory right now, and the v1 isn't YET to the overall potential of those pedalboards in my honest and humble opinion, mainly because of the audio hardware... As for the ergonomy of Loopr, you can check a bit more on this other video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nZdj9Ouz7E

Cheers, hope that helps, ;)

My question, for those of you in the know..  is the output (.wav) of the newer Boss loop pedals of sufficient quality for collaborative song development with other artists?  Additionally, I noted the Loopr demo video*** that someone posted demonstrate the ability to "start the drums and hold the groove via precise MIDI tempo synch"? That's pretty cool if it's really dynamically picking up on the beat and auto synchronizing.  I'd love to do that with mine (Boss DR-5) and would be willing to consider another direction completely if one on you knows this ability already exists on loop-pedal I could use as a replacement to my RC-20 (without it being super overkill upgrade for what you understand I'm looking for).
