Re: OT: Tangerine Dream

Jeffrey, although I know jack-sh*t about computers (or maybe BECAUSE I know jack-sh*t about computers), I feel what you're saying about PCs versus Macs. I use an infuriating old MacBook at my temp job and an equally infuriating Windows 7 PC at home, and they both have features that make me want to smash them with a hammer. Both are a strong motivation for me to switch everything to Linux. (BITE ME, MICROSOFT! ;-)

Another group that says they are doing a tour and come to 5 places in America. Damn.

I wish I could have gotten to see this but alas, I didn't even think they would be doing a tour. It really bothers me that they, along with just about any other group or soloist seem to pass right over the midwest region, and they should know there's a LOT of fans out here.

As for him using Dell computers. I really don't think there is much of a difference between a mac and win machine these days except for user interface and all the damn updates you always have to do with windows products. I (being a mac user) have actually grown tired of all this apple bull, especially with apple trying to tell me what I need in a computer. I need a freaking dvd drive. And I also need a blu-ray drive, both of which they don't do in laptops anymore. All I can tell you is this...my next computer will be made in pieces I buy from computer stores and it will run windows. Cause I need something super powerful for video. And I'll just use this (computer i'm on now) for web stuff.

Cheers Christophe. BTW, Any pics???

Good Morning All,

I was lucky enough to be in the first row at the House of Blues last Thursday for the first Tangerine Dream concert in Boston in 20 years.  A great show!  I'm writing though, because I thought you might find their setup interesting.  They're touring as a six piece - guitar, precussionist, violin/cello/theremin player, and three keyboardists, one who doubles on woodwinds.  The three keyboardists Edgar Froese, Thorsten Queschning, and Linda Spa each had a Nord synth (an older Nord Lead, a Lead 3 and a Wave, respectively) and Froese and Queschning each had a Korg Radias as well as a MIDI controller I coudln't quite see.  But they also had 2 big plasma screens on which they were running softsynths (Arturia Moog Modular, Minimoog, Massive, and a few more.  But what I found  couldn't help but note after all the recent Mac talk is that they appeared to be running the lot off Dell laptops.

Edgar is pretty much the granddaddy of live electronic performance, so it might be interesting to hear his reasoning on computer choices!
