Re: using mac for softsynths only - audio interface needed?

Yes, that's fine. The only problem with the built-in audio is that there can be a bit of system noise...HOWEVER.. that noise is lower than the scanning noise emanating from the audio output of an actual Prophet 5 or Oberheim OB-8, and certainly quieter than the noise level of a DX-7, or Tr-808, etc...

anybody doing this? using a mac for audio out only? is an audio
interface really needed if you're just using it for softsynths, or can
you get away with using the internal audio drivers and the headphone
output? seems to me like it should be fine, but just wondering if
anybody had any thoughts on this...

thanks
