Re: OT: Music School/Theory
Personally, I'm always drawn to works of art that have a great deal of conceptual meat to gnaw on and warrant further analysis. Such analysis in music is hardly ever done without reference to theory, history, tradition and so on. Also, knowing a bit of theory and being very familiar with notation gives me the tools to create complex architectural pieces... it's like seeing the blueprint before building the house. And this is true for all styles I've dabbled in from straight-ahead jazz to electro-acoustic compositions.
