Midi in Live 8

Hi,

Although I've been watching events on LD for quite a while it's been ages
since I posted anything, mainly because I had a pretty stable setup of
Gordius LG controlling Sooperlooper within Logic 9. Highly recommended!

Anyway, I've decided to give Live 8 a go, for a variety of reasons, and
getting some new hardware into my setup (SoftStep and 12Step) has given me
an excuse to get to grips with the Ableton program.

So far I've got some audio tracks setup, and am able to get sound from my
electric violin, my iPad and the 12Step into Live. I'm sending these all
to SL on a return track, which seems to work well.

I then started on midi control: Managed to work out how to get the LG to
send signals to a midi track and then route this to SL, so I can now use
all my old midi bindings. Great!

Next I tried to get an expression pedal attached to the LG to control
volume of the loops in SL, and an expression pedal connected to the 12Step
to control volume of the audio track in Live that the 12Step is sending
signals to.

Both these I was able to do; but here's the problem: When there's no audio
playing at all (not live and not looped) then both expression pedals are
fine. However as soon as there is audio playing then moving either of the
expression pedals does what it's meant to, but also causes clicks and
glitches in the audio!

I can't find the solution: I'm guessing it's a routing issue, or stray
midi sifnals getting to go somewhere they shouldn't.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

And best wishes for Christmas!

Steve
