Line6 HD500 short review

Well I went ahead and shelled out for a Line6 Pod HD500.
Here's what I found:

8 effects at once - up to the limit of the DSP - awesome mangling possibilities!
On screen editor - a godsend not to have to bend down with a guitar on your lap under the table when you want to play with the sounds.
Functions as a usb soundcard - simplifies setting up.
Loads of cool features which you need to read the manual to fully acquaint yourself with.

The looper is ore or less the same as the M13 though with 48 seconds of record time instead of 24

But..
When you change patches on the pedal ALL of your sound blanks off for a split second. That includes any swirling, looped gorgeous gooiness you might have going -ARGHH!
Even if you use your computer for loop capture, which is what I do, when you switch patches the sound coming from your DAW mutes briefly.
The slight good news is that if your recording this into a DAW the audio is continuous, it's only the monitoring that glitches.
This does however render the pedal a very dubious choice for live looping.
I am most disappointed.
I contacted Line6 and their response was "change patches on your loop join" They're thinking phrase looping here aren't they?
Fellow loopers - BE WARNED!

Peace
