Re: Chapman Stick looping

Coolest point in my opinion is that you can improvise two lines
simultaneously. The Stick is very
easy to play, technically, bit the
challenge is to rewire your brain.

i could not disagree more with you (at last! :-).

for a newcomer to music, two-handed tapping instruments are even harder than the piano itself. and i use to play them both actually.

movements take place in a plane (2D), which expands as the number of strings increases (12!), and, as in guitarworld, intervals are not the same length if moving onto another range. while in the piano, jumps are performed mainly on a line (1D), and, for instance, once you learn how to keep an octave straight on a single hand, then, it's going to work all over the keyboard as well.

you can point some advantages out, i know, but the above reason is enough to be taken as a serious arduousness.

well, all of that if you plan to play some difficult music, but for loud noise or quite ambient stuff there's nothing like them.
