RE: RIP AAK

Karuna Supreme, That's it, thanks Rick, someone should release that music.
Today is his memorial in Mill Valley.

Hi Bill,

The albums were called 'Karuna Supreme' (1975) and 'Rainbow'
(1980)
and, yes, it is very sad news, indeed to hear of the passing of the
great musician
Ali Akbar Khan.

They are going as cheaply as $82.50 at amazon.com (ouch) and as much
as $119.99

Not only did he have a huge impact on world music but, in particular,
he had an enormous
impact on the San Francisco Bay Area and environs. I know so many
fantastic musicians
who were trained in Indian Classical music at his Ali Akbar School of
Music in Marin County.
He had a huge impact on the whole World Beat movement of the early 80's
as well as huge impact
on the third stream movement in Jazz.

He will be missed.
