Re: My first looping piece with drum patterns

Warren that was really cool, really eclectic lines and chordal clusters on top of the beat.  Particularly like the ending which is like the spray from a freshly opened bottle of champaign.  Good stuff, going to another stream.

So, all the pieces of my system are working together, tho I'm still trying to work out some of the operational details for live performance - there's a lot going on.

I seem to have a one-man-band obsession. This is a piece with:
Guitar: Godin Freeway SA, GR-33
Mainstage: processing guitar sounds, mixing in synth sounds from the GR-33, generating drum sounds when triggered by:
Ableton Live: used just as a host to a bunch of MIDI clips at the moment. I have sets of related clips arranged in a track (only one track active at a time), using launch actions to let live switch among them. The MIDI clips in this piece were taken from the Ultrabeat library, via copying Ultrabeat->Logic and then exporting to midi files and dragging into Live. Quite a bit of preparation, but it should be very reusable in various ways. To give additional variation above and beyond the midi clips cycling, I put the output of the clips through a velocity randomizer in Live before sending to Mainstage. This is actually surprisingly effective (to me) and actually interesting to control in real-time, tho I haven't done that on this piece.
SooperLooper, running as standalone, 4 loops available
Max: used to record 3 stereo tracks (live guitar, loop output, drums), and also to provide a little glue - he's the one who listens for the Start cmds issued by SooperLooper and tells Live to activate clip 1, for instance.

and, for plumbing, there's the Jack audio server to get the audio where it needs to go, and MIDI Patchbay to help out with the midi.

I hope it's worth all the effort! Feels so to me, this is just the start.
