So, I actually got Mobius working inside Mainstage wo crashing it, by
selecting the IAC Bus as the VST Output in the plugin. pretty
interesting syncing Ultrabeat drum patterns to Mobius loops. There are
a couple of weirdities about this:

1) Mobius sends out a Start message when the first playback of the
first loop starts, but it doesn't appear to send out any particular
message at the start of a loop cycle. So if you don't catch that Start
message, all you have to hold on to is a series of Clock messages.
Maybe there's another output mode I don't know about in Mobius that
sends out some message at the start of every cycle.
2) Ultrabeat patterns sync to clocks in an.... umm.... "interesting"
way. I'll leave out a detailed description of this until I can figure
out a way to start them exactly on time.
3) Ultrabeat doesn't respond to the Start messages that Mobius sends
out anyway - i'd have to use a bidule (or max patch), i think, to
translate that message into a note-on for one of the patterns in
Ultrabeat pattern mode if i wanted to start a pattern in sync with my
loop.
