In fact I refer to the multiply function as known from the echoplex users.
On the kaossilator, in normal mode if you record a 4 beats loop and then 
extend the length to 8 beats you have: abcd/----, the 4 last beats are 
silence.
With the hidden mode, you'll have abcd/abcd, the 4beats phrase is 
multiplied.
You can of course in both mode then add an overdub or erase some parts of 
the loop.
With the normal mode you can "fix" the loop and undo a bad overdub, in the 
hidden mode you can't. This explain the double loop length.
As fixing a loop requires you to stop the loop, I never use it, I prefer 
resampling on an external piece of gear.
