Multiple Speaker possibilities

In the process of assembling a “get out the house” rig, I just put my Layla 24 audio breakout box in a rack and now ponder sending the 8 analog outputs to separate small speakers. It is clear how to do that if you have lots of cash, don’t mind lugging lots of stuff around, and will be playing venues with power outlets all over the place. None of that, however, applies.

The sounds would be coming from a laptop running Mobius inside Bidule, with some softsynth/samplers (Halion, Absynth) as well as one channel of processed guitar fed into Mobius and both these inputs as well as the Mobius loops sent to the 8 outs. I have a PC1600x that I can use to adjust volume and balance on each of the 8 channels. The outputs are all on ¼” cable.

The second channel of processed guitar goes to a guitar amp.

The target venue is a small club, say capacity of 100.

Does anyone have suggestions regarding small powered speakers for this setup? I’m hoping to spend less than $50 per speaker.

Hal Dean
