Re: What's the best vocal looper to buy for live looping

Hi Michael, and welcome to one of the most active communities you will come to love it here!

I can also second the other micheals vote for the edp, as my favorite looper, it has some features that you will discover will change the way you think about a looper, and YOUR music, and music in general. Buy the edp, and you "become a looper" as opposed to "use a looper!" and it is (pretty) easy to get to grips with for basic looping "out of the box".

Reading your mail tho, you may also want to consider the much maligned Repeater for your use. Firstly it has 4 tracks, so for vocal looping you could do some interesting things by keeping low register stuff on one track, and melodic stuff on the others, and once you have lots going, drop out the bass or some other part, or rework a part. Another thing you might like to do is PRE record your drum loops on a track (or couple of tracks if you want stereo, or the drum part broken down into two parts , say kick and snare on one track and perc on another) BUT HIDE them to the audience, by having them faded down. Start your vocal loop in one of the other tracks, build it up over 2 tracks, then BANG, bring in the drums. Your audience will know you were looping your voice, but... "How did he get the drums to come in in time" --- amazing... its magic!

The Boss RC 50, is no wimp however, and i hear good things there... have you considered software? Abelton Live, might be your thing, but the whole software question is really opening a right old tin of serpents!
