Polyphonic distortion is a wonderful application of HEX pickups! I
would also like to bring each string into my laptop through separate
channels and built six channel setups with different treatments per
string. I've already done this with MIDI guitar but just think about
the possibilities when working with the instrument's real sound! And
you can use fretless guitar as well :-)
