DD-20 Tempo bug or feature

When you change the effect mode twice (by rotating Mode knob or pushing
right pedal) the sound stops.
I've just noticed that when you push Tempo button a couple of times it
starts playing again part of what was recorded earlier.
It seems like a bug (the memory is not cleared when switching), but it
may be a feature,
as it allows you to regain control over previous, disengaged loop.

Another interesting feature of the Tempo is the ability to
multiply/divide loop.
You may set it to 4 sec./quarter note then switch the tempo to whole
note and you have
a 16 sec. loop built from the initial 4 sec. material (unlike Ted
Killian's Time Trip).
The negative is that stepping through shorter times distorts the audio a
bit (within switching time,
so the faster you do it the better).
Then you may divide the loop by setting the tempo to half note (8 sec.)
etc.
