99 is the better number, looks poetic, dynamic and whatnot, i agree 
totally.
but 100 looks pretty good from a japanese standpoint.
if you have provided three digit display on your latest developed drum 
machine,
you wouldn't want the only-lame-two-digit 99 but the full-three-digit 100 
show
on your magically glowing display on start up...
