realtime stereo to surround

Are there VSTs that convert live stereo (or mono) into 5.1 surround (or
discrete multi-channels)?  I know the Eventide H8000 does this in hardware
by means of distributing the original signal across the surround channels,
applying EQ , etc .    And I'm sure this could be programmed in Max/MSP,
but was wondering if there was an 'off the shelf' software product.
