No need for excuses - it's a well documented fact that rosewood
fingerboard gives a "warmer" sound compared to a maple neck guitar.
But I kind of like the maple necks although I subscribe to similar
sound esthetics; if you warm up the sound by rolling off treble I dig
the distinct attack you get with the jazz tone from a maple board.
For a while I kept swapping necks between my guitars to find out
about that (and other things). This experience goes mostly with
Fender guitars. I never removed parts from Gibson ES guitars or
Ibanez George Benson that I have owed during different periods.
