Yep, still need two units for stereo operation.

The hardware differences in the beige/blackface EDP's didn't affect
any basic functionality.  A different face plate, a cooler-running
power supply, some minor changes to the input stage, but nothing like
adding stereo audio in one unit.  Memory was really expensive back
when the EDP was designed.
