IIRC in loop 3 you can assign midi note equivalents for the front panel
buttons.  1st button is midi note x (whatever you assign), next button
over is note x+1 and so on.  Someone w/ a loop3 manual please chime in
w/ specifics. 

Loop 4 has much more extensive midi control.
