LD Ninjam server, Mk1

I'm waiting on some info from Kim before we can set up the "official" Ninjam server, but in order to start making some music ASAP, I'm going to pass on cpr's suggestion that we just use the Kyberfest server that he has graciously left running:

No, there's no stream as yet, so consider this to be in the "rehearsal space" category, not yet the "public performance" category.

For chatting that needs to happen in regards to getting things set up, I'd also suggest we use the simple chatroom which, again most graciously, cpr has left up.

And for the calendar, which can be used to book the space for scheduled sessions, here's a Google one which Os created:

For any calendar additions, for now send them to me and I'll put 'em in. Any time which is unspoken-for is public time for anyone to use (I don't think there's anything on the calendar yet, so just go for it!).

Now, for any Ninjam newbies:

- you're gonna need a computer.
- that same computer needs a way for your music to get into it, if it's not there already, with as low latency as possible (ASIO drivers work well and are easily downloadable - I used http://www.asio4all.com/)
- since you're reading this, you're on the Net; your connection should be DSL quality (300kbps download, 60kbps upload or so)
- after the above is taken care of, go to www.ninjam.com and download the client software (available for Mac or PC). It's not too difficult to set up, but any questions can be directed towards me or to...

THE KYBERFEST LIST

I'm going to strongly suggest that, for discussions regarding Ninjam sessions, tech issues, scheduling, or spontaneous playing, people join the Kyberfest Yahoo group which Rainer set up. http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/kyberloopfest/  This'll reduce the traffic on the LD list and will create a focused atmosphere for this thing.

Again, we owe the use of this server to cpr, and of course Rainer's setup of the Kyberfest which got so many of us interested in this technology. There are things to be worked out and discussed, of course, but for now let's see how it goes and most importantly, make some music!
