Yeah, but the available user base is no less warped than the MAX user 
base.  I grabbed a copy last year to check out as a replacement host 
for Ableton, and remember being impressed by the number of 
off-the-wall "alternate" controllers (Powerglove, handheld game 
controllers, video, etc.) for which people were programming and 
publishing interfaces, for instance.

Smaller, but no less interesting...
