 Hi,

A rectangular space, with non-multiple ratios of length/width/height,
and good speaker placement, can be a very good space and one that it
easy to treat with acoustical products.    Non-rectangular shaped room
can be good, but much less predictable and more difficult to figure out
solutions for (at least mathematically).  

A cube shaped room is the worst possible shape.   8 x 10 x 12 is  are
all divisible to 2, and partially by 4.
Ideally, use ratios like Golden Section, or Pi, to help you find
dimention

Perhaps adding 'sound board' and extra sheet rock to one wall would be
enough to provide better dimensions.

>From the main listening position, you can have a friend hold up a mirror
and move along the walls.  Where ever you can see the speakers (either
one) in the mirror from your listening position you'll want to put some
acoustical treatment to avoid direct reflections.
