RE: stumbling around in the dark.....

Title: RE: stumbling around in the dark.....

I met nick mason once too- his daughter used to work here for VH1-UK, & we used to see her little car out the front (plate read P1NK F). he showed up at the security desk one evening just as I was leaving, & was trying to tell the 18yr-old rent-a-cops who he had come to visit. the young lady was at a viewing station w/ headphones on & hadn't heard "wish you were here" coming from her mobile 'phone. & so naturally I had to assist.

didn't get a beer out of it though.

& I made up the part about the ringtone.

erm.... the lighty-up volume pedal proved to be a life-saver on the darkened stage of the space centre in leicester on saturday. however, there are a couple of caveats:

some keyboards (certainly the yamaha AN1X) seem to switch off the 5V supply to the pedal when it is mostly being sent back to the keyboard. I'm still investigating this, as the idea works fine on regular "cheap" controller keyboards.

more importantly, my first three pedals like this were fitted with high-brightness white LEDs, as I had them to hand. they really are bright, & when they're in a foot-pedal in front of you on the floor..... the light goes right into your eyes. too bright. you end up being lit from below like bela lugosi.

do I win a prize for getting nick mason & bela lugosi into the same e-mail?

d.
