Kevin,

I would try this one at radio Shack. It will provide several different
voltages, including 6V & 9V at 1000 ma (which is 1 amp).

6 volts will almost certainly work, even though the unit technically calls
for 7.5.

Some people dare to 9 volts in an application like yours, and it usually
works, but there is always an overvoltage risk, though small.
