This Tuesday March 16th - Delta Forces & Michael Keith

Guitarist/looper/improviser Michael Keith has been playing
guitar for 25 years. His journey thus far has taken him through
countless bands and tours in rock, blues, country and jazz.
The last few years however Michael has been a busy participant
(and event organizer) in Toronto's amazing improvised music
community. His new CD "ZETETIC" is a set of solo acoustic
guitar improvisations and will be available at this show.
Michael is also planning a small tour in July with english
percussionist Roger Turner (improv mate of Lol Coxhill,
Derek Bailey, Otomo Yoshihide). http://www.michaelkeith.com

Between sets will be a showcase of George Brown College
digital poetry (multimedia set to Dolphin Sky tracks).

Next up is DELTA FORCES - The machine was left running...
After 16 million ticks on the clock of Amora, a drone began.
On the Delta plane, the forces of space and time aligned.
A triangular pattern formed. A new rhythm was born.
>From Theta to Delta, the Cosmic DNA evolved
and... the machine was left running....

Solo looping guitarist (self-proclaimed Cybertarist) Paul Royes
has this time, focused his attention upon "delta" frequencies.
Paul will integrate samples and "live" loops to produce shamanic
trance-like tones. http://home.goodmedia.com/~dw/cybertar.html

rik maclean's *ping things* CD Reviews

"Antithesis" by Aidan Baker

Aidan Baker's latest release "Antithesis" is a four song
collection of guitar based drones and glitchy goodness
providing a perfect example of why Baker has fast become
one of the most respected innovators in the independent
ambient scene. Using only electric guitar recorded on two
stereo tracks recorded in two takes, Baker has created a
stunning travelogue of wonder, an aural universe of beauty
and awe that gains complexity with each listen.

Track 1 "Antidromic" begins with a growing wall of sound
that runs beneath a series of pops, clicks and buzzes slowly
giving way to a twinkling bell driven starscape filled with
wonder and mystery. One can't help but feel the suggestion
of ascension here, the sense of being lifted beyond the
mundane and taken to a higher plane. Brilliant.

Track 2 "Antiphon" explores this new plane a little more
deeply, senses spiralling, rising and falling drones creating
a distinct environment. An ice castle made from a million
different coloured liquids. Breathtaking.

Track 3 "Antitoxic" takes us to new locations, new climates.
Much more subtle movement in this piece, more minimal
change in tones creating a very delicate space. Wondrous.

"Antithesis" is proof positive of Baker's ability to shape new
and exciting soundscapes with minimal instrumentation, a
testimony to both his imagination and his skill. There are
fantastic things happening in this release, wonderful worlds
to discover. I wholeheartedly suggest that you take the time
to discover them yourself.
