OT--overloading pickups?

I ask this here because there seem to be so many serious

guitar folk on the list:

What does the phrase "overloading the pickups" mean?  >From what I could

tell from the context, it seems to be an impedance issue, but I'm clueless

as to what precisely would cause it to occur & what the effects of its occurrence

might be.
