The very first Sustainiac worked that way.  After that, they switched to
"pickup acting sort of like an eBow" model, similar to the Fernandes and
Floyd Rose Sustainors.

www.sustainiac.com used to have a little history about it, but I see 
they're
down for a few weeks while they update their page.
